Balance

Knoxville Instrument Company is very knowledgeable on weighing scales and analytical balance calibration. With more than 60 years of experience, we have a vast collective knowledge that covers almost all weighing instruments on the market today. Our customers span a wide range of industries including environmental, manufacturing, medical and research laboratories. We have the capability to calibrate your balance or scale from 0.001mg to 30Kg with NIST traceable class 1 weights.

Our factory trained metrology technicians use calibration and test procedures referencing:

  • American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E617-97) for Mass Standards.
  • American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E 898-88) for Top-Loading direct-Reading Balances.
  • National Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSL) RP-3, RP-4 and RP-11
  • International Standards of Weights and Measures (ISWM) Hand Book-44

We offer two types of calibrations: Class I & Class II.

Level I: Two page performance and calibration report showing:

  • “AS FOUND” and “AS LEFT” weighing readings.
  • Corner Load.
  • Preload Linearity.
  • Standard deviation or reproducibility.

Level II: NIST traceability

REPAIRS

If your instrument is found to be out of tolerance upon the completion of the calibration process, our technician will give you a quote for repair immediately. Minor repairs can be completed on site, while others will require more extensive trouble-shooting and therefore requiring the repair to be completed at our facility. Most shop repairs are usually completed within six to eight weeks, but we typically have rentals available for your convenience.

Knoxville Instrument Co. offers Calibration Contracts / Agreements with discounts to customers who want their scales and balances calibrated on a regular basis, whether it be semi-annual or annual. We strongly recommend regular calibrations for scales and balances as it is the only way to be sure you are weighing your samples accurately. When clients have a contract with regular calibration intervals they never need to worry about audits because we make sure you are always prepared!
